Dutch Water Defence Lines Weekend Tour
This weekend tour begins in Weesp and passes by numerous forts of the Dutch Water Defence Lines. There are even traces of the Old Dutch Waterline. You’ll get a good impression of the different architectural styles over the years, from an earthwork to a tower fort and concrete defence structures. The cycling route passes through an incredible water-rich landscape that includes the Loosdrechtse, Ankeveense and Vinkeveense lakes and the Vecht river. Muiderberg is located on the IJmeer, the former site of the Zuiderzee.

for the road
Stop at Fort Nieuwersluis and dive into the history of the Cold War. At the time, the fort served as a command post of the Civil Protection Services, a volunteer group that was ready to provide assistance in the event of a nuclear war.
