Glass ornaments
While walking, take a good look around you: how much glass do you see? There is more than you think. If you go on a glass discovery trip in Leerdam, it is best to look up. Leerdam's city centre breathes glass. And every glass artwork in Leerdam has a story. The circular art of coloured glass and neon is inspired by traditional glass works. The artworks were created by visual artist Han Goan Liem. They pay homage to the glass industry in Leerdam. So you will find the signature of famous glass artist Andries Copier in them, as well as Floris Meijdam's famous vases.
In total, you can find more than 25 glass works of art in Leerdam. By walking the special route set out along all the glass ornaments, you can be sure not to miss any. Look here for the route.
Glass pearls
Can you find all the glass pearls? The pearls were made by Leerdam glassblower Josja Caecilia Schepman. They hang above various shops and catering establishments. They give away what you can find in the buildings: a glass necklace shows where the jeweller is and a colourful pearl welcomes you at the World Shop.
