What could be more fun than a colourful scavenger hunt in nature? Especially for children aged between four and 12, Noorderpark Ruigenhoek has set out a 'challenge trail' that takes you into the history of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie.
It starts at Gagelsteede petting zoo in the Overvecht district. At the information board you pick up your own challenge card and walk to the Gagelbos. Along the way, you get eight challenges that let you look, smell, build and play. This way, you soon discover that the Gagelbos is not just a forest. You will learn about the landscape, forts, bunkers, animal tracks and water. Come and join the adventure in this exciting piece of nature! To find the route, follow the coloured dots on the footpath from Gagelsteede to over the bridge. After the bridge, you will see brightly coloured poles that you can follow further.
Can't walk the whole way? Then you can also start at the car park of Speelbos Gagelbos (Gageldijk, near nos. 104 and 106, 3566 MH Utrecht), the route will be about 2 km long. Look for the map and the tasks in that case at the images of this route ('Take a look'. Near Parkeerplaats Gagelbos you will also find Restaurant Fort de Gagel, where you can have a coffee, lunch or dinner.
