A characteristic fortress on an island, complete with moat around it. A haven for those looking to escape the busy city life. Here on the island you will find an atmospheric children's corner and outside next to the terrace the children can have the time of their lives on the play equipment. Once you enter the island, you immediately imagine yourself in an oasis of history and nature, even when you are inside the historical fort. Large windows offer a wide view over the greenery and thanks to the mural of two foxes by artist Jan Is De Man, even the walls breathe nature.

Fort de Gagel was constructed from 1819 as part of the New Dutch Waterline. The Klopvaart provided a connection between Fort de Gagel and Fort de Klop. At the time, the enemy had to stay away, so the area was regularly flooded. The fort was a safe haven for a long time and it still is. The fort's history continues in this way.
