Knock and Gagelpad
This walking route starts at Fort aan de Klop, which lies like an oasis of calm along the river Vecht. The welcoming fort has a brasserie with sun terrace. Along the Klopvaart, you walk towards Fort de Gagel, straight through the landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Hollandse Waterlinies. To flood the waterline, inundation canals were needed - the Klopvaart is a fine example. To protect this canal, Fort de Gagel was built in 1820. Here you will find a restaurant where you can have lunch, dinner or settle down for a drink, or simply admire the impressive structure located on the edge of the Noorderpark Ruigenhoek, on the way to the Maarsseveense Plassen.
