To draw extra attention to both of these, many walking and cycling routes have been developed along the castles and country houses. These routes put the various castles, country houses and estates in the spotlight. Each route takes you past different historical locations, allowing you to discover the region in a relaxed way by bike.

Cycling through this region is fun for everyone - whether your preference is electric bike, mountain bike, road bike or regular city bike. The routes offer every cycling enthusiast the chance to experience the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings, while at the same time enjoying the rich history of the castles and country estates in the Utrecht region. Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to visit one of the castles or have lunch or a cup of coffee in the orangery of the various locations. The castle gardens are also worth admiring! Especially when everything starts to blossom.

Discover 2 new castles cycling route by Dutch Tourist

De Nederlandse Toerist has developed two cycle routes past various castles in Utrecht. This first cycle route starts in Doorn and takes you past no fewer than six castles and a fort, whilst the second cycle route begins at the beautiful Slot Zuylen and continues through Maarssen to Kasteel de Haar.
