The Blossom and Fruit Route starts at TOP Stadshaven in Wijk bij Duurstede and passes through the charming town centre and past the beautiful Duurstede Castle. The walking route continues along the Kromme Rijnpad, a lovely towpath alongside the Kromme Rijn and the picturesque village of Cothen, surrounded by magnificent fruit orchards.

The Blossom and Fruit Route starts at TOP Stadshaven in Wijk bij Duurstede and passes through the charming town centre and past the beautiful Duurstede Castle. The walking route continues via the Kromme Rijnpad, a lovely towpath along the Kromme Rijn and the picturesque village of Cothen, which is surrounded by stunning fruit orchards.

Blossom and Fruit
This route is called the Blossom and Fruit Walking Route, but it’s well worth a visit in any season. If you walk this route in spring, the fruit trees will be in bloom and you can enjoy the beautiful and wonderfully fragrant blossoms. In summer, it’s cherry season and you’ll find cherry stalls along the route where you can buy fruit. In autumn, there are apples and pears – and, of course, the orchards in their most beautiful autumn colours. In winter, you can enjoy a breath of fresh air before warming up again in the cosy village of Wijk bij Duurstede.

When does what bloom? 🌸

  • Cherry blossom: usually from late March to early April

  • Pear blossom: early to mid-April

  • Apple blossom: mid-April to early May

This route follows the walking junction network. Follow the junctions: 10 – 73 – 74 – 75 – 76 – 82 – 52 – 51 – 41 – 89 – 11 – 14 – 15 – 17 – 18 – 19 – 62 – 63 – 64 – 68 – 60 – 73 – 10.

If you’re coming by car, you can park on either side of the harbour. ‘P Haven’ is for long-term parking, whilst the other car park is for short-term parking only.
