Fort Lunet aan de Snel
Somewhat hidden in the greenery, between Fort Honswijk and Werk aan de Korte Uitweg, on the Gedekte Gemeenschapsweg lies the small but characteristic fort Lunet aan de Snel. In this fort, the special role of water in our society and also the exceptional properties of water are highlighted. There is also space at the fort for people who want to engage in other types of (group) activities in this special environment or simply enjoy the peace and beauty of this area. The fort's outer wall is also open to hikers.
The Lunet aan de Snel (1845-1846) is a defensive work 300 metres north of Fort Honswijk. From this earthen rampart, an attack on Fort Honswijk from the northeast could be resisted. It also allowed a section of the Lekdijk to come under fire, which was not possible from Fort Honswijk.
