Thousands of lights, atmospheric Christmas trees adorned with handmade decorations, antique nativity scenes and beautiful Christmas bouquets. From 17 December to 3 January, Amerongen Castle will once again be bathed in a warm, festive Christmas atmosphere. From the castle kitchen to the King’s Chamber and throughout the gardens, everything exudes the spirit of Christmas.
This year, the Christmas celebrations at Amerongen Castle will be extra special, as the cats are back for a while! Countess Elisabeth was very fond of animals and took in all the stray cats from Amerongen at her castle. She even had cat flaps and cat stairs made so that they could get everywhere. When things got too busy, she set up the De Hazenberg animal shelter, exactly seventy years ago. To celebrate this anniversary, Amerongen Castle is putting the cats in the spotlight this Christmas. Amerongen Castle can only admit a limited number of visitors for safety reasons. Please buy your tickets online in advance to ensure you can visit. Admission to the castle is until 16:00.
