Amerongen Castle

Welcome to Amerongen Castle, one of the Netherlands' best-preserved castles in one of the most beautiful spots in the country. Once the residence of influential noble families, today it is a living museum full of stories.

The Castle
In the 'Huys', guides tell you all about the long history of the castle, its noble families and their special guests, such as the last German Kaiser Wilhelm II, who signed his abdication here in 1918. Wander through authentic historical interiors and admire the art treasures the residents collected. For children, there is a fun puzzle booklet that allows them to playfully discover the castle and learn something about its history.

The gardens
In the gardens - which can also be visited separately - you experience the beauty of the historical estate. The canals, paths and flower borders form a romantic setting where you can completely relax. Each season has its own charm: from radiant spring flowers in spring to brilliant autumn colours in autumn.

Terraces and museum shop
The terraces and shop are freely accessible. Enjoy a delicious cup of tea or a nice ice cream overlooking the rose garden. Don't forget the shop, where you can buy unique souvenirs, beautiful books and great gifts. Opening hours
Opening hours and current presentations and exhibitions can be found on the Amerongen Castle Foundation website. Outside opening hours, Amerongen Castle can also organise a guided tour for a group.

Liz Restobar
Liz Restobar is located in the former stables of the historic Buitenplaats Amerongen. From the terrace, you have beautiful views of Amerongen Castle.

VVV information point
Amerongen Castle is also a VVV information point. This is located in the gatehouse of the Oranjerie. You can go here for up-to-date leaflets of the region and for cycling and walking routes. Enquire at Amerongen Castle or the local VVV for the availability of VVV gift cards.

Accessibility
By bicycle
There are beautiful cycling routes to Amerongen Castle. From station Veenendaal-de Klomp and Veenendaal-West, it is a beautiful bike ride of about 40 minutes. There is a large bicycle shed in front of the castle grounds with two charging stations for electric bicycles.

By public transport
The castle is easily accessible by bus. Take bus 50 (Utrecht-Wageningen) and get off at the Amerongen Dorp stop.

By car
You can park for free at Toeristisch Overstappunt De Groene Entree - from here it is a 15-minute walk to the castle.
