Utrecht was one of the first cities with city rights in the Netherlands. So the city has a long history and this is reflected in all the beautiful buildings preserved in Utrecht's historic centre. Get to know this vibrant city on foot.

Walking through Utrecht, you will soon notice how pleasant it is here. Many old city castles here have been transformed into nice restaurants and cafés with terraces along the canals. Even the old warehouses along the wharf are still used to house trendy shops and catering establishments, among other things. So there is plenty to experience and especially taste in Utrecht. On this route, you will pass Stadskasteel Oudaen. This fortified medieval house dates from the second half of the 13th century. Like other city castles, it consists of a large main house and a small side house. The side house mainly served as living quarters, as such a small space was easy to heat.
