This special information point offers a comprehensive overview of tourist highlights in the immediate area and is specially equipped for recreational visitors who want to explore Nieuwegein and historic Vreeswijk.

What is there to see and do?
Visitors can immerse themselves in a life-size comic strip about the bargee village of Vreeswijk, Fort Vreeswijk and the Dutch Waterways. Take a seat behind the Fort Commander's desk and experience what it is like to make the right decisions. At the reading table you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and discover what else there is to do in Nieuwegein.

Cooperation between Dorpshuis Fort Vreesijk, province of Utrecht and municipality of Nieuwegein
The Information Point is a wonderful result of the close cooperation between the province of Utrecht, Dorpshuis Fort Vreeswijk and municipality of Nieuwegein. Thanks to this joint effort, an informative and fun space has been created.

From design to realisation
Studio Harm Hasenaar, commissioned by the province, provided the design for the Information Point and elaborated the exhibition. Gemeente Nieuwegein renovated the space, allowing the exhibition to be set up. Volunteers from Village Hall Fort Vreeswijk contributed by carrying out demolition and painting work. This led to a beautiful end result!
