Pandhof Museum Catharijneconvent
The Pandhof Museum Catharijneconvent is part of the medieval monastery that now houses the Museum of Religious Art.
The courtyard of the monastery complex, the Pandhof, is the former monastery garden of the Johannites. Part of the monastery was a 24-bed infirmary, then the largest hospital in the city. In the Pandhof, herbs for the hospital, but also just for the kitchen, were grown.
Design
In terms of layout, the monastery garden has a simple appearance. There are four lawns and in each corner there is a tree with a reference to the Bible, such as the Judas tree. At the intersection is a sculpture by Swiss sculptor Max Bill from 1986.
During the summer months, the pandhof of Museum Catharijneconvent is the setting for a series of concerts.
