De Haar kitchen garden
Just outside Haarzuilens against Kasteel de Haar is Moestuin de Haar: a self-harvesting garden on the old production grounds of the castle. Two gardeners, together with a large group of volunteers and interns, grow more than 50 varieties of vegetables for over 200 families in the neighbourhood. These harvest participants come to the garden themselves every week to harvest the vegetables. Cultivation is based on the principles of organic farming. There is also a flower-picking garden where beautiful bouquets can be picked in season. The great diversity of vegetables and flowers makes it a beautiful place, which can also be visited by passers-by.
