In short, a lovely place for Leerdammers, but its unique location also makes it the perfect base for visitors to explore the city further from there.

De Houtloods is an early dinner lunch café, which means there is an extensive menu with something for everyone and the kitchen is open until 8pm. The menu features soups, sandwiches, pastries, appetisers, starters, mains and desserts, all freshly made and with plenty of room for local produce. For instance, the meat comes from Keurslagerij Rien & Irma Baas, the pastries from De Ambachterij in Schoonrewoerd and the cheeses from Kaasboerderij aan de Linge. Not local but certainly to make you happy: the wines come from Neerlands Wijnhuis and the coffee from Cook & Boon.

Finished eating and in the mood for some spectacle? Walk into the glassblowers' workshop at the National Glass Museum's Glassworks.
