Between the Conservatory buildings lies Pandhof Sinte Marie, the remnant of the former Maria Church.
History
The 11th-century St Mary's Church was one of five Utrecht chapter churches, and was among the most impressive Romanesque buildings in the Netherlands. However, deterioration began during the siege of Vredenburg Castle 1576, and due to the dissolution of the chapter in 1811, the church was eventually demolished in stages.
Today, only the cloister remains.

The court or open space, together with the surrounding buildings of the 11th century cloister, is called Pandhof Sinte Marie. The magnificent garden contains a beautiful flower, herb and butterfly garden.
