Follow a scenic route
IJsselstein's surroundings are beautiful and worth exploring. You can do so on foot or by bike. The various routes lead you straight through the Green Heart, along the Hollandse IJssel or the Lek. Both for walking and cycling, you can choose from short, long and multi-day routes. There is so much to see along the way and when you return you will have so much to tell.

Discover IJsselstein from the water
Hire a boat, canoe or sup and explore the Hollandse IJssel. Join a canal cruise or lunch cruise from the Yselvaert Foundation to Lopikerkapel, Montfoort or Marnemoende. And if you can't get enough, stay overnight on a raft at Jachthaven Marnemoende.
Watery walk
Take a walk on the Hollandse IJsselpad; a 37 km multi-day hike, right through nature reserves, over towpaths and past Old Dutch towns. The route runs from Het Klaphek in IJsselstein, where the Hollandse IJssel begins, to Gouda. Can also be walked in stages. Or take one of the 21 walking detours that tell the story of the Hollandse IJssel.

Kindervertelvaart
Every Wednesday afternoon during the school holidays, there is a children's canal cruise for children aged 6 to 12. After the canal cruise, step inside Museum IJsselstein to take a look at the children's exhibition 'Druktemakers'. There you are sure to be impressed by a crazy exhibition. This art project is a collaboration of 18 children's ambassadors and 9 renowned artists.
Tracking and playing
Rondje Speuren is a fun city walk with questions. You will learn all kinds of things about IJsselstein along the way. In Speeltuin Kloosterplantsoen, you will make a stop to climb and clamber around. Want to meet one of the gnomes who live there? Then look for the little red doors. You'll find them in and around the playground.
Fluttering and fluttering
To help insects, bees and butterflies, yards have been transformed into Green Experience Struin Points with herb gardens, edible nature, butterfly, bee and insect spots. A feast for the insects and for you. Hop on your bike and follow the Butterfly Flutter Routes along flowery ribbons and experience points right through the Green Heart.
