Petrustoren Woerden
Woerden has a beautiful sounding carillon in the Petrustoren on the Kerkplein square.
The very earliest history of the carillon in Woerden goes back to 1557. In 1964, the current carillon was installed with 37 bells and expanded to 47 bells in 1974. It plays on every quarter hour; a recognisable sound for many a Woerdener.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary in 2014, an E-flat bell was added to the carillon on 30 March 2015, so that the carillon now has 48 bells.
Every other week, during the market on Wednesday morning, on various Friday evenings and Saturdays and on special occasions, the characteristic bell concert sounds in optima forma, when the carillon is played manually by carillonneur Henk Verhoef or by a guest carillonneur.

The tower consists of 203 steps, with the climb consisting of a number of stages. At each intermediate stage, the party stops under the guidance of a guide from the Guild, who tells about the history of Woerden, the tower, the immense bells and the city's paintings.
