Leerdam is world famous for its glass. In the Glassworks at the National Glass Museum, you can see how glass-blowers create a wide range of art objects from hot liquid glass. The Zuidwal with its ‘mouse towers’ is a reminder of the time when Leerdam was a fortified city. These mouse towers are small tower houses that are still used as residences to this day.
