She said: "For the invitation to make a sketch for a mural, I went to Leerdam on a Sunday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere in the city centre and really liked the location of the wall.
I walked through the streets and along the Linge, taking in everything as best I could. I never actually take photos for work and the only image I had of that afternoon was a picture of the wall and the images in my head. I tried to make an abstracted version of my memory, looking for shapes and colours. Colours that fit the city, the shore and the water. Over these more or less abstract shapes, I applied figuration with a fairly clear line that tell a soft and warm story of this encounter between me and Leerdam.
I live and work in Amsterdam and get my ideas from my surroundings and my life. I often work on and with paper. I have been living in Slotervaart for a few years now and have been very positively affected by this nice spacious neighbourhood where architecture and nature meet. This is reflected in my work in recent years."
