Grebbeberg military field of honour
The largest battle fought by Dutch soldiers during the Second World War took place on the Grebbeberg. Here, poorly armed, untrained men held their ground for three days against a vastly superior and ruthless enemy. The Grebbeberg Military Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 800 soldiers and one civilian who lost their lives during the Second World War. It is situated on the Grebbeberg near Rhenen. A battlefield spanning a few square kilometres, full of stories of the courage born of despair in the Netherlands.
The information centre, with an exhibition on the events at Grebbeberg during "The Battle of Grebbeberg" in May 1940, is open daily from 9am-5pm.
