Scherpenzeel House
In the 14th century, on the site of today's Huis Scherpenzeel, there was a fortified house with 'Heerlijke rechten', which was owned by the Lords of Scherpenzeel. The house was built for defence purposes at a strategic point on the border of Gelre (Gelderland) and Sticht (Utrecht). In the 18th century, the castle was converted into a country house and in the 19th century it was rebuilt again by the family who used it as a summer house. Since 2000, the entire country estate has been a protected national monument. Today, Huis Scherpenzeel is one of the most romantic places to get married, but it is also a great place for private dining, parties and business meetings.

Once a week there is a weekly market, at Kulturhus de Breehoek on Marktstraat. This traditional goods market offers a wide range of delicacies. Non-food related market stalls are also present weekly at the Breehoek. Once a year there is a large annual market, on the last Wednesday of May.
