Auction room Old Fruit Auction Wijk bij Duurstede
A special aspect in this museum is the auction room. The fruit auction of Wijk bij Duurstede was inaugurated on 9 June 1949. Despite its cultural-historical value, architecture and authenticity, it failed to be listed as a national monument. In 2002, the entire fruit auction was demolished but the auction clock, benches and tile tableau were preserved. These cultural-historical objects have been given a new use in "The Cherry Museum". Here you can see the auction room with the original clock, benches and everything else in its original state. Want to know if you have the right trading skills? Then play the "auction game". So you can experience bidding for yourself. Who knows, you might do the best business!
