Slot Zuylen

Slot Zuylen is one of the oldest castles on the river Vecht, just outside the city of Utrecht. The castle has a rich family history with influential residents, in which strong women play a prominent role, such as author Belle van Zuylen. In Slot Zuylen, the public gets to know the living culture and daily life of the Utrecht nobility.

Castle Museum & Collection
The museum consists of the intact castle and the historical garden. Inside the castle, the original inventory consisting of books, paintings, furniture, costumes, photographs and household objects can be admired. In addition, art treasures such as paintings by Gerard van Honthorst, a room-filling goblin, rare glassware and Chinese porcelain adorn the house. Get a guided tour of the Castle using an audio tour and immerse yourself in life at the castle.

Museum garden
A visit to Slot Zuylen is not complete without a walk through the castle garden. Dozens of volunteers maintain this beautiful garden. But what exactly is the story behind that monumental snake wall? And from which regions do the lovely-smelling rose varieties originate? You will learn this and more during one of the garden tours.

From 21 June, you can join a garden tour every Sunday at 2pm. Also fun, combine a garden tour with a delicious picnic in the garden with produce from its own vegetable garden. Book your ticket in advance for a guided tour of the castle and/or a tour of the garden.

Museum café Coach House
The museum café in the restored Coach House offers fair-trade coffee and tea, organic juices, lunch with home-grown produce, coffee and cake and high tea. The Koetshuis is also a base for walking and cycling tours. For groups, the beautiful Upper Room or the Museum Café are available (also outside opening hours).

Slot Zuylen has fun activities for young and old. Look for current activities in the UITagenda or on the website of Slot Zuylen. In addition, Slot Zuylen and its garden offer the possibility to organise meetings for groups.

Corporate hire
The museum castle is available as a venue for meetings, business presentations, seminars and receptions in a stylish ambiance. Slot Zuylen offers space for small and large groups. Your wishes can be accommodated flexibly. Lunch, dinner or a guided tour are among the possibilities. Slot Zuylen is easily accessible from all over the country, with ample on-site parking.

• Slot Zuylen is open every Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Guided tours of the Slot are available between 11.30 and 15.30 (audio tour)
• Garden tours are organised every Sunday at 2pm (with a guide)
