Museum Soest: where past, present and future speak
One of the places not to be missed by tourists in Soest is Museum Soest. Museum Soest is located in a former monastery "Huize St Jozef". The consecration of "Huize St Jozef" took place on 15 September 1868. In this convent, the nuns taught and took care of the elderly and poor. In 1965, the building became vacant and the nuns moved to Amersfoort. Now, so many years later, the building houses Museum Soest, among other things.

On the ground floor and on the 1st and 2nd floors of the museum, you will enjoy past, present and future. Also very recognisable for visitors from outside Soest. The museum has experienced remarkable growth and development in recent years. There is much for young and old to discover and experience. A multitude of themes can be viewed, such as the Isings Room (large collection of wall charts, paintings and books), school classroom, wheelwright's shop, council chamber, attic full of old crafts, religion a fire service and a beautiful department showing Soest's nature. The exhibitions are supported by screens with information and listening devices, and every three months there are changing exhibitions by Soest artists. As for the temporary exhibitions, there are also occasional trips to artists from outside Soest.

Royal Household exhibition
Meanwhile, the permanent collection of Museum Soest has been expanded with a fantastic permanent exhibition on the Royal Household. This permanent exhibition has been supplemented with a large scale model (wide 3.90 metres) of Soestdijk palace. Of course, a scale model of the needle in Baarn cannot be missing from this exhibition either. A small scale model of Drakensteyn Castle also has a place in this exhibition. Using short films, we take you back to the inhabitants of Soestdijk palace. Although Soestdijk Palace is on Baarn territory, the Orange family also had a great affinity with the municipality of Soest.
