The Stone Room

You can't miss this farm on the corner of Nedereindseweg (formerly Noord IJsseldijk) and Meerndijk. It is a former homestead, whose oldest core dates back to the 15th or early 16th century. This can be seen by the size of the monastery mound (the stones) and the thickness of the wall. After that, the farmhouse was continuously expanded, being a so-called 'stone room', the oldest form of a stone dwelling house that had an important function. During high water levels, the stone room provided a means of escape for residents and neighbours.

'De Steenenkamer' can be found as an inn back in 1762, for which the house was rebuilt.
