In Scharperswijk nature reserve (52 hectares) south of Lexmond, time seems to have stood still. Here you can still find the authentic plot pattern of the Vijfheerenlanden, with elongated plots of grassland and willows. Willow trees used to be harvested in these willows, which were used for baskets and fences, among other things. The Zuid-Hollands Landschap maintains this area.
