Landgoed Zonheuvel is situated in Doorn, in the heart of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug woods. Driving up the long driveway, past the Coach House and the historic Maarten Maartenshuis, you arrive at a place where nature, history and hospitality come together.
The hotel has 110 modern rooms with views of the surrounding countryside. From the estate, you can walk or cycle straight into the countryside, for example towards the Kaapse Bossen. Places such as Doorn, Zeist, Wijk bij Duurstede, Utrecht and Amersfoort are also within easy reach.
The historic heart of the estateThe Maarten Maartenshuis forms the historic heart of the Zonheuvel Estate. This listed country house, dating from 1902, was built for the writer Maarten Maartens and has retained many original features, such as characteristic period rooms and historic elements that tell the story of the estate.

The cuisine is inspired by Maarten Maartens’ cookbook and uses fresh, seasonal ingredients. Some of these come from the estate’s own vegetable garden. The dishes are paired with suitable wines.

The estate holds the Green Key Gold certification and features, amongst other things, a greywater recycling system, an organic vegetable garden, climate-neutral hotel rooms and responsible forest management.
Starting point for walking and cyclingLandgoed Zonheuvel is an ideal base from which to explore the Utrechtse Heuvelrug . Several walking routes through the woods start from the estate, and various cycle routes are within easy reach. You can hire bikes at reception, where free walking route maps are also available. There is also a secure bike park with charging points for electric bikes.
