Soesterberg Air Base
The NMM is located at the former Soesterberg Air Base, a complex of abandoned runways, bunkers, an underground nuclear shelter, ammunition depots, and the shelters where fighter jets used to be parked. After the Cold War, the runways were used mainly for helicopters, and since 2008 the airbase has been completely out of use. Today's Park Vliegbasis Soesterberg lends itself perfectly to discovery on foot or by bicycle. It is additionally possible to take a guided tour. These start in the central hall of the NMM.
