Archaeology museum The Old Station
The Archaeological Working Group 'Leen de Keijzer' was founded in April 1967 as a working group of the Historical Circle "Tussen Rijn en Lek". The group of amateur archaeologists deals with archaeology in Houten, Schalkwijk, 't Goy and Tull en 't Waal, and the Kromme Rijn area in general. The working group is affiliated to the AWN (Archeologische Werkgemeenschap voor Nederland).
Members assess plans, carry out excavations (at the request of the municipality or province), conserve, study and preserve archaeological finds and data. The working group displays finds in the archaeological museum and it publishes articles and booklets.
The Archaeological Working Group meets in the attic of the Old Station in Houten. This is also where the archaeological museum and specialist library are located. Curious about what the museum has to offer? Click here!
