The Battery on the Gein is an earthen fortification at the end of the Geindijk-Nigtevecht Line Road in Abcoude. It consists of batteries on either side of the Gein river and is part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. The batteries previously fell under Krayenhoff's posts as post 8. Between 1800 and 1810, two closed earthworks were constructed on either side of the Gein, near the Oostzijdse Molen. There were no shelters for the storage of artillery or ammunition, nor were there crew quarters. They were later incorporated into the Stelling van Amsterdam without modification, and were part of the Liniewal Geindijk-Nigtevecht. The western battery then had two artillery emplacements in open formation for two 10-cm guns. These guns covered Fort near Abcoude and reached as far as Fort aan de Winkel.
