Experience Veenendaal from the water

The history of Veenendaal's peat extraction is brought back to life. Peat extraction used to drive employment and industry. Peat was transported through narrow canals with characteristic barges; long flat-bottomed barges.

This year, you can experience for yourself what it is like to sail the Veenendaal waterways on a barge. Whether you want to relax, go out with the family or are looking for an original outing with colleagues: there is always a cruise to suit you.

The canal
Park your car at Hugo's Pannenkoekenhuis (end point of the canal) or at another location of your choice. During the trip, you will sail over the Valleikanaal towards De Roode Haan. There you get off for a walk of about 10 minutes to the Turfweide. After a total of 30 minutes you get back on board and sail towards the end point: Hugo's Pancake House.

Packages
Complete your day with an arrangement. For example, first come to Stadsmuseum Veenendaal and start your visit with something tasty. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with cake for only €6.95 p.p. You can also book a museum ticket at a reduced rate of €6. This is only possible when booking in advance (at the door it is €9). Museumcard holders have free entry on presentation of the card. Book both arrangements at least 1 working day in advance, including desired time and group size.
