Guided tour of Fort Everdingen

Sign up for an in-depth tour of Fort Everdingen! Volunteers from the Honswijk-Everdingen foundation organise a guided tour every Sunday. The tour starts at 2pm and takes you back to the past. You'll learn all about the history and function of the fort over the years. End the afternoon in style with a delicious beer from fort brewery Duits & Lauret.
Fort Everdingen with its large tower fortress was built between 1841 and 1849. Together with Fort Honswijk, Fort Everdingen sealed off the entrance to the river Lek. It also defended the three inundation sluices and the inundation channel near the fort. A large sluice bear was built in the Lek dike in front of the fort: a dam containing a sluice for the inlet of river water for the inundation. The hydraulic system here is well preserved.
