Craft and history come together
In the historic Volmolen in Amersfoort, you will find De Katoendrukkerij, a special place where centuries-old craftsmanship comes back to life. Here, craftswoman Nathalie Cassée works by hand on unique prints on textile and paper - inspired by a technique that came to the Netherlands via India in the 17th century: printing fabric with wooden printing blocks and natural dyes.

A living workshop full of patterns and stories
What makes De Katoendrukkerij so unique is the combination of heritage, creativity and craftsmanship. Nathalie works with a collection of over 1,000 wooden printing blocks in a variety of motifs and also has new blocks engraved in India. Each design is different: layered, colourful and with attention to detail, white space and the material used. She prints on paper and on old fabrics such as antique linen and hemp, and sells her work to individuals, artists and fashion houses.

Workshops and creativity for everyone
Besides creating her own work, Nathalie shares her craft through workshops and teaching programmes. In these, personal expression is central: you do not make a pattern according to a fixed pattern, but discover for yourself how colour, shape and material determine your unique design.
