The Cunera Church is the main church of Rhenen. It is a relatively large church, due to the fact that Rhenen was an important place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. The pilgrims would come here for the relics of St Cunera, who was honoured here since the eighth century. The church's pride is its tower, which is 82 meters tall. Inside the church, the charming Renaissance rood loft from around 1550 really stands out.
It is one of only a few rood lofts that remain in the Netherlands. The rood loft has been decorated with allegorical representations of the three theological virtues of faith, hope and charity. Part of the figurative sculptures has been lost. The choir contains chiselled choir stalls from 1570.
