Below are some of the attractions that can be found near the TOP.
Fort Jutphaas
Fort Jutphaas (1820) is a defensive structure of the New Dutch Waterline. During the German occupation, the fort was used as a radio transmitting and receiving station for the submarine war. Now there are special wine activities and a terrace for wine lovers.
Werk aan de Waalsewetering
This defence work was built between 1875 and 1878 and consists of a high earthen wall, a barracks and artillery depot. The fortification is freely accessible and offers great views over the line landscape!
Verdronken Bos
The Drowned Forestis a forest plot that has been farmed and now functions as a water storage area. However, the trees cannot withstand high water levels, which is why it is now called The Drowned Forest. The area represents what it looks like during an inundation (flooding of the area). A boardwalk of about 300 metres has been built in this forest. A wonderful place to experience the inundation in real life and enjoy nature.
Liniepont
A ferry for cyclists and walkers crosses the Lek river from May to September. The ferry sails between Werk aan het Spoel (Culemborg), Werk aan de Groeneweg (Houten) and Fort Everdingen (Vianen). For current sailing times, please check www.uiterwaarden.nl or the free app 'ferry ferries'.
