Work on the Waalse Wetering
Built in 1875-1878, this Werk includes a bombproof depot and a fort watchman's house.
The work was capable of housing up to 95 troops in an emergency.
The fort is freely accessible and you can enjoy a wide panorama of the Eiland van Schalkwijk and take a walk to the nearby Verdronken Bos, where you can walk over the water via a plank path. More information: www.staatsbosbeheer.nl
