City brewery De Dikke

Stadsbrouwerij de Dikke has been brewing craft beers since 2015, based on a historical recipe from 1495. Where brewing was previously done at third parties, beer brewing is back in Wijk's city centre after more than a century. All the Dikke's beers will be brewed in its own town from now on.

The Dikke experience will feature beer tastings in addition to the production of its own beer. On Friday and Saturday afternoons, it will be possible to book beer tastings between 3pm and 7pm. The brewery also opens its doors on the first Sunday of the month. The maximum group size is 12 people, but customisation is possible.

De Dikke is proud of Wijk bij Duurstede, its beer and, of course, its brewery. They like to share that pride, the story of the Dikke and its unique flavour with everyone. Why is the brewery called the Dikke? Where was the Brouwerstraatje? Why were the Wijk skippers notorious in Utrecht? What makes Wijk beer unique? All questions that will be answered during a guided tour.

A tasting can also be booked via rondje@wijksedikke.nl or through the website. The Dikke then tells the story of Wijk's beer history, they explain the brewing process, show you around and, of course, let you taste. 4 flavours in tasting glasses with explanations and local snacks. A whole glass of your favourite Wijk beer will be served. After-dinner drinks can be enjoyed at various Wijk cafés and restaurants.
