Kromhout Barracks and Fort Vossegat

Since the 19th century, Utrecht has been crucially important due to all its barracks. In the Kromhout Barracks, built in 1913, Major General Kromhout and his engineers worked on designs for the New Dutch Waterline. The remains of the former Fort Vossegat also occupy this site. On the other side of Waterlinieweg is the Rietveld Schröder House, a house designed by Gerrit Rietveld that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
