In the Waterliniemuseum, you dive into an interactive journey through the history of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Through the stories of people from different eras, you get a unique insight into the past. Find out how (Prince) Mauricehad the brilliant idea for the line in1589, empathise with a peasant woman from the Disaster Year of 1672 and discover the line's weak spots with a soldier in 1794. Engineer Kraijenhoff explainswhy the line was moved in 1815 and a workman lets you experience what it was like to work under harsh conditions in 1880.

The extraordinary museum building, designed by architect Anne Holtrop, offers not only fascinating stories but also interactive experiences.
