The Rope Museum in Oudewater is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a festive programme from April to September. In this anniversary year, you will discover all about the rich rope history of Oudewater - a town where craft, water and history come together in the Green Heart.

It kicks off on 4 April with the special exhibition 'Rope above water'. This exhibition focuses on maritime archaeology. Several 17th-century shipwrecks were investigated on the Rede van Texel. Unique rope remnants were found, which can now be admired in the museum. A special opportunity to take a closer look at centuries-old craftsmanship.

In addition, the museum will open the doors of the historic ropeway (1880) on Hekendorperweg during special open days on Saturday 9 May and 13 June. You will get a glimpse ...

In addition, the museum will open the doors of the historic ropeway (1880) at Hekendorperweg during special open days on Saturday 9 May and 13 June. You'll get a peek inside the old workshop, followed by a tour of the former factory site. Here you will hear more about the monumental buildings, such as the boiler house and the spinning mill, and discover Oudewater's industrial history.
