At Stadsmuseum Veenendaal, you will be introduced to Veenendaal's rich and eventful history. Using a versatile collection of art and heritage, we bring the past to life.
Permanent collection
Our exhibitions tell the story of Veenendaal, which originated from peat extraction in the Gelderland Valley. When peat ran out at the end of the 17th century, the community found a new livelihood in the wool industry, which determined the face of the region for a long time. Radical events that left deep traces are also highlighted. Like the Flood Disaster of 1855, when the breach of the Grebbedijk flooded almost the entire village. The war years are also covered, when both the First and Second World Wars dramatically changed the daily lives of Veenendaal's inhabitants.
Changing exhibitions
In addition to the permanent presentation, Stadsmuseum Veenendaal organises annually changing exhibitions
