Garden concert at Amerongen Castle: Gipsy jazz with Tim Kliphuis Trio and Mozes Rosenberg on guitar

The Tim Kliphuis Trio performs a contemporary rendition of the 'Hot Club de France', a musical ensemble that rocked European jazz in the 1930s, with a line-up of just three instruments: violin, guitar and bass. It was controversial at the time.

Expect swinging pre-war hits by Parisian jazz legends such as Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli (Minor Swing, Night and Day), complemented by an occasional classical arrangement (Norwegian Dance by Grieg) and pieces by Tim Kliphuis and Moses Rosenberg himself.

Kliphuis is a Dutch violinist, classically trained, known for his gipsy-jazz: classical sounds and folk music intermingled. He has been playing for years with the well-known gypsy guitar virtuoso Rosenberg, who has become one of the heroes of the European gipsy-jazz tradition. An exciting performance!
