Schlümbach's Xylotheek is an extraordinary wood collection in book form from 1790. Xylon is the Greek word for wood. Each 'book' is made of a type of wood. King Louis Napoleon gave this collection to the University of Leiden in 1809. Since 1980, the Xylon library has been on display in the castle, in a special climate cabinet.
