Top 4 sailing routes
The Vechtstreek, or Vecht region, owes its name to the Vecht River, one of the most idyllic rivers in the Netherlands, famous for the many 17th and 18th century country estates along the banks. With a combination of vast peat meadows to the west and peat lakes to the east of the municipality, the Vecht region offers an unprecedented variation in landscape and recreational opportunities. It is no coincidence that the river, which flows from Utrecht into the IJmeer 42 kilometres way near Muiden, has two different but highly accurate names: the Herenvecht, or 'Gentlemen's Vecht', and the Boerenvecht, or 'Farmers' Vecht'!
